The Expanding Flash Mob Threat…Are You In Condition Yellow? Why Not?

From Jeff Cooper:

  • White: Unaware and unprepared. If attacked in Condition White, the only thing that may save you is the inadequacy or ineptitude of your attacker. When confronted by something nasty, your reaction will probably be “Oh my God! This can’t be happening to me.”
  • Yellow: Relaxed alert. No specific threat situation. Your mindset is that “today could be the day I may have to defend myself”. You are simply aware that the world is a potentially unfriendly place and that you are prepared to defend yourself, if necessary. You use your eyes and ears, and realize that “I may have to shoot today”. You don’t have to be armed in this state, but if you are armed you should be in Condition Yellow. You should always be in Yellow whenever you are in unfamiliar surroundings or among people you don’t know. You can remain in Yellow for long periods, as long as you are able to “Watch your six.” (In aviation 12 o’clock refers to the direction in front of the aircraft’s nose. Six o’clock is the blind spot behind the pilot.) In Yellow, you are “taking in” surrounding information in a relaxed but alert manner, like a continuous 360 degree radar sweep. As Cooper put it, “I might have to shoot.”
  • Orange: Specific alert. Something is not quite right and has your attention. Your radar has picked up a specific alert. You shift your primary focus to determine if there is a threat (but you do not drop your six). Your mindset shifts to “I may have to shoot that person today”, focusing on the specific target which has caused the escalation in alert status. In Condition Orange, you set a mental trigger: “If that person does “X”, I will need to stop them”. Your pistol usually remains holstered in this state. Staying in Orange can be a bit of a mental strain, but you can stay in it for as long as you need to. If the threat proves to be nothing, you shift back to Condition Yellow.
  • Red: Condition Red is fight. Your mental trigger (established back in Condition Orange) has been tripped. “If ‘X’ happens I will shoot that person”.

When it comes to personal security most of us live in Condition White most of our lives. In Condition White before you understand the threat, it is upon you. We live there because for most of our lives, in most of the United States, you could get away with it. It wasn’t dangerous. Well that is starting to change.

JWR,Last Easter weekend, a twitter message went out and in a few hours 20,000 people descended on Surfside Beach, Texas, population about 600. My LEO contacts tell me there were only six officers available. The crowd turned sour towards the locals who did not want them parking or defecating in their yards.Several residents had to stand on their front porches with weapons displayed to keep groups of hundreds from passing through their property. Several rental beach houses were broken into and one contact said the volume of human feces and trash was unbelievable. The roads were impassable for hours, trapping the residents who may have wanted to evacuate.

via Letter Re: The Expanding Flash Mob Threat –

Here is the Associated News that confirms that this was basically a “flash mob” event. Imagine that you are at this beach with your wife and children blissfully unaware, in Condition White, and 20,000 hooligans descend upon you and you don’t notice it until your children are terrified. What do you do now?

Start being aware of your surroundings, we do not have the luxury of being blissfully unaware any longer. The hordes have been allowed into the castle walls…they are aching for a fight. Before we give them that fight we have to survive until the rest of us wake up to the threat.

Report: 1 dead, 3 wounded in Texas beach shooting Published April 08, 2012 Associated Press

SURFSIDE BEACH, TEXAS –  Authorities say one person has been killed and three others wounded in a shooting during a packed beach party on the Texas Gulf Coast. Brazoria County Sheriff Charles Wagner told The Facts newspaper that he had no immediate identification of those involved in the shooting at Surfside Beach and no immediate arrests had been made. Wagner says the circumstances were unclear. The Facts said word of mouth about an unauthorized beach party spread on social media, drawing thousands to Surfside Beach, about 40 miles south of Galveston. Surfside Beach officials told The Facts that the party was not permitted nor authorized. The Facts quoted a witness as saying the party began peacefully, but fights broke out and there was heavy drinking and also drug use.

Eventually we will have to take back our world and make it civilized again, till then Condition Yellow it is.

Let’s Talk About the Real Issues, Mr. President …Palin Calls Out The Marxist In The WH

Obama’s first attack ad targets Romney Newt Santorum Paul nope, why should he?  None of them are as scary to democratic hopes as Palin is, not only because of her power as a politician but because she represents us, the bitter clingers. Of course they attack Palin first but like Croce so eloquently sang, you don’t pull on Superman’s cape and you don’t spit into the wind…and you don’t pick on a girl! Ok I added that last bit.

I’m sure I missed a few things, but the list is just for starters. Along with millions of others, I’m willing and free to discuss these issues with the President anywhere, anytime; and I’m sure any of the four patriots currently running for the GOP nomination would also welcome the opportunity to talk about the problems everyday Americans face due to the abject failure of our current administration’s policies. The President will dismiss all of these problems by saying, “Well, uh, ‘change isn’t easy.’” But considering that candidate Obama promised to turn back the waters and heal the planet, the American people had at least a reasonable expectation that, at the bare minimum, he wouldn’t bankrupt our country. Sarah Palin unleashed a withering critique of congressional Republicans Saturday, lambasting them for not cutting spending deeper and faster, and saying the party needs to “fight like a girl.”

Are You Ready To Shrug Yet? Do You Know Anyone Who Has?

Of course I am assuming that you know what I mean by shrug. I am talking about the idea of simply deciding that instead of fighting the system you simply drop out as the characters in Ayn Rand’s amazing book Atlas Shrugged did when faced with exactly the same sorts of people controlling society and government we face now. And yes instead of merely saying this party or that party is the problem we need to get to the place where we understand that it is some people who are the problem. And it is their philosophy of life that is the problem. How they arrived at their beliefs is not my concern in this post. It is enough to say that these people believe down to their core that they have the right to dictate to the rest of us how to live. Let’s call them the Robbers since that is exactly what they are doing, robbing us of our right to lead our lives free from their constant attempts to control us and our environment.

I simply reject the idea that they have the right to do this but at this point the robbers simply look at me and say “yea so what are you going to do about it”? Well in Atlas Shrugged when faced with that same question from the Robbers the productive folks responded by simply leaving…saying in effect to the Robbers, “If you are so smart you run things”. This destroyed society since obviously the Robbers have only specialized their entire lives in theft and when there is nothing left to steal they run out of tricks. I have not reached the stage of shrugging but I certainly understand the impulse. Right now I have to bite my tongue when faced with another violation of my right to decide my course in life…but many of you have decided that enough is enough here are some of their stories. Notice one very disturbing thing except for the first story…many of those listed here are Medical Doctors…Obama Care is having the desired effect. Obama set out to destroy this country and we see evidence of it everywhere.

Jerry Della Femina, the legendary advertizing visionary, restaurant owner, and alleged inspiration for the popular AMC television show, Mad Men, has shrugged. As he wrote recently in The Independent (East Hampton), in 2008 he “decided that this country was falling in love with an attractive, great-speechmaking hustler/socialist”, and due to the country’s further lurch towards statism, Della Femina has decided to drop out on the way to selling “my houses, my advertizing business, my newspaper and my restaurant.” Jerry Della Femina, the “Mad Men” Ad Man, Has Shrugged – John Tamny – Political Economy – Forbes

These are comments from a fantastic prepper blog Living Freedom by Claire Wolfe left when she asked her readers about their plans regarding Shrugging. This is a fantastic blog that is part of Backwoods Home Magazine, a tremendous resource for those who like to be prepared.

  • everywhere around me are men, usually in construction, have lost their jobs. They haven’t been able to find a new one, but have learned to live on less and suddenly discovered they don’t care to make the fight like they used to make. Lots of working under the table and such, taking them away from mainstream economy, further and further each day. They just don’t care or want to be involved any longer. The joke around here is “he works for the government”. We also call them “99 weekers”, which is the number of weeks they can collect unemployment. Many of these men have never collected it in their life and are not planning on going back to the regular economy when the deal’s done.

  • I’m a physician actively contemplating a personal “shrug”. The constraints on practice have gone from merely frustrating, to a significant hindrance, and now full-blown madness. There is no other way to say it; to continue like I am is mentally insane.

Just about the only thing keeping me in line like a good citizen is dept: medical school is a horrid burden. I’ve already sold everything of value I own, rent a very cheap spare bedroom and throw all my excess at the debt, but at this rate it will still be at least 7 years before I’m free. I suppose I could just give the banks the finger and walk away from it all…but to avoid having my wages garnished I’d never be able to have a usual job or bank account ever again, which would be quite a leap of faith.

  • A back surgeon once told me they were giving serious thought to going into cosmetic surgery. Why? Less hassles, less red tape, and they could probably feed their family the same doing “silly face tucks instead of true medicine.”

  • I’m a family physician with over ten years in private practice. My wife, my family and I have sunk an astonishing amount of money and time into building our practice, only to see it all being washed away by the politics and practices of “health care reform.”

We’re in the process of selling out to a local hospital. I’m done with watching my wife work nights and weekends doing the billing and dealing with appeals and denials, all the while trying to keep a small business running.

The good news is that even while I practice as an employee, I will maintain my license and my contract explicitly allows for pro bono service… which I intend to continue.

My “tribe” (if you will) will continue to receive my care, free of charge. While no money will change hands, I will promise this: No member of my family will ever lack for the necessities of life and no member of my tribe will lack for medical care, come-what-may to the general economy.

There’s more than one way to shrug.

I don’t know when my limit will be reached but with a family I have to have a very high tolerance for the bullshit of the Robbers. My limit will probably be reached right about the time the collapse of the economy forces me to forage for food. But again notice that Doctors are the ones that are being forced into decisions they never imagined when they worked so very hard to become Doctors.

What is your plan when the Doctors go away? Notice that drug shortages are starting to occur? Isn’t that lovely? What is your plan?

Beyond the Welfare State…Must Read

This article will become as influential as Angelo M. Codevilla’s article regarding the elite. It does worry me that if Codevilla is right then there will be problems trying to reform the behemoth that is the US Government. Mainly stemming from the fact, as outlined in, America’s Ruling Class — And the Perils of Revolution, that the elite, both republican and democratic elite, love the power of the welfare state. They have no incentive to repair it unless we force them. The amount of force that will be required is the question of the day. Still for the hopeful this is as good a way forward to reforming that monster we call the Federal Government as any I have read. Certainly better than the nonsense of nipping away at the margins that so many of the Republicans seem to be so enamored by.

Beyond the Welfare State YUVAL LEVIN

It is becoming increasingly clear that we in America are living through a period of transition. One chapter of our national life is closing, and another is about to begin. We can sense this in the tense volatility of our electoral politics, as dramatic "change elections" follow closely upon one another. We can feel it in the unseemly mood of decline that has infected our public life — leaving our usually cheerful nation fretful about global competition and unsure if the next generation will be able to live as well as the present one. Perhaps above all, we can discern it in an overwhelming sense of exhaustion emanating from many of our public institutions — our creaking mid-century transportation infrastructure, our overburdened regulatory agencies struggling to keep pace with a dynamic economy, our massive entitlement system edging toward insolvency.

But these are mostly symptoms of our mounting unease. The most significant cause runs deeper. We have the feeling that profound and unsettling change is afoot because the vision that has dominated our political imagination for a century — the vision of the social-democratic welfare state — is drained and growing bankrupt, and it is not yet clear just what will take its place.

That vision was an answer to a question America must still confront: How shall we balance the competing aspirations of our society — aspirations to both wealth and virtue, dynamism and compassion? How can we fulfill our simultaneous desires to race ahead yet leave no one behind? The answer offered by the social-democratic ideal was a technocratic welfare state that would balance these aspirations through all-encompassing programs of social insurance. We would retain a private economy, but it would be carefully managed in order to curb its ill effects, and a large portion of its output would be used by the government to address large social problems, lessen inequality, and thus also build greater social solidarity.

Humorist Extraordinaire Iowahawk Disassembles Krugman’s Bullshit About Teachers…

Iowahawk usually disassembles foolishness with mockery and wit but sometimes the stupidity reaches heights so high that mockery will not suffice. Well Mr. Krugman of the New York Times rings that bell with Iowahawk. And being motivated by Krugman’s epic stupidity a semi serious Iowahawk takes the supposed PHD to school on statistics.

Longhorns 17, Badgers 1

Please pardon this brief departure from my normal folderol, but every so often a member of the chattering class issues a nugget of stupidity so egregious that no amount of mockery will suffice. Particularly when the issuer of said stupidity holds a Nobel Prize.

Case in point: Paul Krugman. The Times’ staff economics blowhard recently typed, re the state of education in Texas:

And in low-tax, low-spending Texas, the kids are not all right. The high school graduation rate, at just 61.3 percent, puts Texas 43rd out of 50 in state rankings. Nationally, the state ranks fifth in child poverty; it leads in the percentage of children without health insurance. And only 78 percent of Texas children are in excellent or very good health, significantly below the national average.

Similarly, The Economist passes on what appears to be the cut-‘n’-paste lefty factoid du jour:

Only 5 states do not have collective bargaining for educators and have deemed it illegal. Those states and their ranking on ACT/SAT scores are as follows:

South Carolina – 50th
North Carolina – 49th
Georgia – 48th
Texas – 47th
Virginia – 44th

If you are wondering, Wisconsin, with its collective bargaining for teachers, is ranked 2nd in the country.

The point being, I suppose, is that unionized teachers stand as a thin chalk-stained line keeping Wisconsin from descending into the dystopian non-union educational hellscape of Texas. Interesting, if it wasn’t complete bullshit.

As a son of Iowa, I’m no stranger to bragging about my home state’s ranking on various standardized test. Like Wisconsin we Iowans usually rank near the top of the heap on average ACT/SAT scores. We are usually joined there by Minnesota, Nebraska, and the various Dakotas; Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire…

… beginning to see a pattern? Perhaps because a state’s "average ACT/SAT" is, for all intents and purposes, a proxy for the percent of white people who live there. In fact, the lion’s share of state-to-state variance in test scores is accounted for by differences in ethnic composition. Minority students – regardless of state residence – tend to score lower than white students on standardized test, and the higher the proportion of minority students in a state the lower its overall test scores tend to be.

Please note: this has nothing to do with innate ability or aptitude. Quite to the contrary, I believe the test gap between minority students and white students can be attributed to differences in socioeconomic status. And poverty. And yes, racism. And yes, family structure. Whatever combination of reasons, the gap exists, and it’s mathematical sophistry to compare the combined average test scores in a state like Wisconsin (4% black, 4% Hispanic) with a state like Texas (12% black, 30% Hispanic).

So how to compare educational achievement between two states with such dissimilar populations? In data analysis this is usually done by treating ethnicity as a "covariate." A very simple way to do this is by comparing educational achievement between states within the same ethnic group. In other words, do black students perform better in Wisconsin than Texas? Do Hispanic students perform better in Wisconsin or Texas? White students? If Wisconsin’s kids consistently beat their Texas counterparts, after controlling for ethnicity, then there’s a strong case that maybe Texas schools ought to become a union shop.

Luckily, there is data to answer this question via the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). The NAEP is an annual standardized test given to 4th and 8th graders around the country to measure proficiency in math, science, and reading. Participation is fairly universal; if you’ve had a 4th or 8th grader in the last few years, you’re probably familiar with it. Results are compiled on the NAEP website, broken down by grade, state, subject and ethnicity.

So how does brokeass, dumbass, redneck Texas stack up against progressive unionized Wisconsin?

2009 4th Grade Math

White students: Texas 254, Wisconsin 250 (national average 248)
Black students: Texas 231, Wisconsin 217 (national 222)
Hispanic students: Texas 233, Wisconsin 228 (national 227) iowahawk: Longhorns 17, Badgers 1

Iowahawk is only warming up by this point and you really need to click this link and find out just how stupid Krugman thinks we are…or perhaps he really doesn’t get it.

Buh Bye British Pound It’s Been Nice Knowing You! Now What?

Here is a snapshot of the last throes of the British Pound as the financial crisis continues…yes continues to wind to it’s terribly gory conclusion. Rumors are flying that tomorrow Germany will announce that they are dropping the Euro as a currency and returning to the Deutschmark. We will see if that rumor plays out. Different large European gold and silver supply houses are shutting down sales because large scale panic buying of both has depleted their supply. Welcome to the new normal where gold looks sensible and everything else is a suckers bet.

Check out the 6 month trend on the pound…weee what a fun ride.

FCC’s Diversity Czar: ‘White People’ Need to be Forced to ‘Step Down’ ‘So Someone Else Can Have Power’

Meet Mark Lloyd he is the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)’s Chief Diversity Officer! Neato!

Well gee maybe this guy is a bit over the top eh? That color blind society that Martin Luther talked about is so much closer now that we have a black man acting as President.

This reminds me of those “diversity” clowns that run around universities banning speech, giving re-education classes and in general acting like the asses that they are. What we have here is the typical liberal university diversity czar…AKA fascist clown in a dangerous position of power.

Conference on Media Reform: Racial Justice May 2005

During the Clinton Administration, largely because of Congress who was then very concerned about affirmative action and believed that – although affirmative action largely benefited white women – that affirmative action was largely viewed as something that was benefiting blacks. Not necessarily any of the other racial groups (his laughter) but blacks. And that blacks had gotten enough and it was time to do something about this. These affirmative action programs needed to be stopped. We have not made much improvement since we’ve begun to pull back (sic) from those things in the mid 1990s.

The conversation about how we communicate with each other despite being aware of the clear impressions that I know that I make in rooms that I walk into, when people hear my voice, is a challenge. How much do I express the… I think really pretty obvious complaints of black Americans in rooms full of whites.

This… there’s nothing more difficult than this. Because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem. We’re in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power.

There are few things I think more frightening in the American mind than dark skinned black men. Here I am.

Fairness and Accuracy In Media’s CounterSpin Radio July 2007

What we’re really saying is that the Fairness Doctrine’s not enough. And that having a sort of over-arching rule that says broadcasters ought to be fair or ought to provide issues important to communities and that they ought to do it in a fair and balanced way is simply enough. Unless you put some teeth into that and put some hard, structural rules in place that are going to result in fairness.  FCC’s Diversity Czar: ‘White People’ Need to be Forced to ‘Step Down’ ‘So Someone Else Can Have Power’ |

The black panthers, Van Jones, Holder, Reverend Wright, Father Phlegar and the rest of the racist crew all support Obama…? Why? Hey maybe Obama doesn’t like white folks either? Maybe that is why he keeps putting these maniacs into places of power? Of course Father Phlegar, Rev Wright and are not in power but that was because they jumped out of cover before Obama was elected…so under the bus they went.

If you are upset that I am asking this question you need to wonder how is it that so many blatant racists support Obama? Would they support Obama if he thought rational thoughts about white folks???

Brutally Honest has even more…back at ya Rick!

Senator Johnny Isakson, Can You Name His Party? Buffoons On Parade…

Just so we are clear about what is bothering many regular citizens in this country. In my business if something doesn’t work I don’t continue to throw money at it. Used to be that we could tell who the Republicans and Democrats were by where they stood on throwing money towards problems. Read the snippet below and try to apply that same reasoning to the problem and you will probably guess this buffoon is a Democrat…you would be wrong.

Johnny Isakson’s Position Statement on the Economy
As our nation continues to struggle through the current economic crisis it is important to stay focused on the recovery aspects. I believe the key to returning stability to the economy lies within the housing market. We must find a way to keep people in their homes, stabilize foreclosures and return consumer confidence to the marketplace. Once stability comes back to the housing market, you will see investors and small business begin to reinvesting in job creating activities, which will put hard-working Americans back to work. I will leave no stone unturned in pushing to address the housing market as the catalyst for turning around our entire economy. Our nation has always demonstrated a strong resiliency and I am confident we will once again bounce back stronger than ever, where hard-working Americans are at the front lines of economic prosperity.

Tax Credits for Homebuyers

I believe our economic problems start with the housing market and that we must restore the house market if we are going to restore our economy. To draw buyers back to the market, I have introduced a proposal to invigorate housing demand and to boost the economy by expanding the first-time homebuyer tax credit passed by Congress earlier year.

Specifically, my legislation would increase the maximum amount of the credit from $8,000 to $15,000 and expand the current tax credit so that it applies to any buyer of any home, not just first-time buyers. My legislation also would eliminate the income caps of $75,000 for an individual and $150,000 for a couple under the current tax credit so that there is no income limit for eligibility. Finally, the legislation would extend the tax credit for one year from date of enactment and would still allow homebuyers to claim the credit on their 2009 tax return for purchases made in 2010. Johnny Isakson, United States Senator

Senator Isakson identifies the problem as foreclosures when in reality that is a symptom. It is exactly the result of his easy money, no penalty for failure policies, policies that he would like to double down on. Folks walk away from houses when they don’t have a lot of skin in the game. If I don’t put any money down plus I get tax credits for playing House Casino and additionally it is official policy that it wasn’t my fault and no penalty should occur if I walk away…well guess what? I will walk away when it becomes non-profitable. But since when has it been a Republican value that we take money from those who earn it to give to those who gamble it? Since when is it considered prudent to play the housing market like penny stocks? When did Republicans sign on to that nonsense…?

One of the biggest problems facing the American people today is an illiquid housing market, a decline in their equity, a decline in their net worth and a depression in the housing market that we are obligated to correct if we possibly can. Today, in the United States, one in two sales made every day is a short sale or a foreclosure. That is an unhealthy market, and it is continuing to precipitate a downward spiral in values, loss of equity by the American people and a protracted, difficult economic time for our country.

“We are obligated to correct”…who is this we Kemo Sabe? You got some dumb folks who love throwing good money after bad hiding in your pockets? This bubble you idiotic politicians have created may be the death of our financial system. It has already brought down a tremendous number of banks who thought gambling with other peoples money was a good idea. You not satisfied yet? Want to blow that bubble up one more time?

How can we counter “progressive” Democrats when Republicans are proposing essentially the same dumb programs? Let me clue you in Senator Isakson.

The housing market NEEDS to run out all these get rich quick schemers. And it needs to run out all those folks who did not use the same sort of prudence those of us who are not in trouble used when buying our houses. There needs to be a financial bar that folks need to be able to step over. There have to be penalties for those who fail to uphold their commitments to paying their bills.

Sorry this is harsh but it is reality. You seem to have no problem at all using my money to bail out folks whose decision making skills rival my fish. I am offended by this since my money does not grow on trees. Senator some of us have to actually work for our money…we would appreciate it if you didn’t throw it away.

Republicans heal thyselves!

‘Those who (laughingly) “represent” us in Congress are vulnerable for the oldest of reasons: they do not have clean hands.’

Read this analysis of the situation our politicians find themselves in after today’s march and tell me it doesn’t ring true!

From Garry Hamilton in e-mail originally and now posted at his wife’s site… this must read:

It should be remembered that in any public demonstration of activism, the percentage of participation — from within the larger group of like-minded constituents — is not only typically single digits, but down at one or two percent.

If you can muster a million actual people, physically present, there will be AT LEAST between 50 and 100 people who would have gone or wanted to go but were prevented from so doing by logistics. And current estimates put the number in attendance at two million or more.

Meaning that their sentiments are shared by anywhere from 100 million to 200 million people. Of whom, I would reckon the solid majority are registered voters.

If I am a member of either House of Congress, these numbers tell me something about my future, and give me pause to contemplate the weight of the two primary threats to my career: “shall I succumb to the blackmail and extortion from the Administration, or cave in to the wishes of my constituents?”

Those who (laughingly) “represent” us in Congress are vulnerable for the oldest of reasons: they do not have clean hands.

You cannot threaten an honest man. You have no leverage. The best you can do is simple thuggery. And against a man of integrity and courage, you don’t even have that.

All but the most arrogant among our legislators have to know, now, the mind of those they presume to represent.

All but the most hubris-polluted will know that the usual shrug-and-dismiss protocol obtains no traction.

Even with the abetting silence of the Fourth Estate, they must know they have no cover.

What remains to be seen is who among them shall offer contrition and seek reconciliation with those whose hand holds the ballot.

I suspect — if what seems actually IS — that those who bluster that it wasn’t their fault, or that they didn’t know, or, indeed, that they were right (in spite of the evidence) will be sitting out the remainder of the game from the next election forward.

I only pray there are enough people left who don’t want the job to replace those husks of rotting souls who have believed that their election was the winning ticket to the ultimate privilege lottery.

Brutally Honest: ‘Those who (laughingly) “represent” us in Congress are vulnerable for the oldest of reasons: they do not have clean hands.’

As Glenn Beck is so very fond of saying…We Surround Them!

Obama heckled by SC congressman Joe Wilson

WASHINGTON — The nastiness of August’s health care debate reached into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to move his reform plan forward.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" after Obama had talked about illegal immigrants.

It wasn’t the only interruption during Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress in the House of Representatives. Earlier, Republicans laughed when Obama acknowledged that there are still significant details to be worked out before a health care overhaul can be passed.

Wilson’s outburst caused Obama to pause briefly before he went on with his speech. Overhead in the visitors’ gallery, first Lady Michelle Obama shook her head from side to side.
