The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes … raise payroll taxes … raise investment income taxes … raise the death tax … raise business taxes … and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars. My sister Heather and her husband have just built a service station that’s now opened for business — like millions of others who run small businesses.

In a discussion regarding Civil Rights Obama claims that it is a tragedy that the Constitution was not radically reinterpreted to force redistribution of wealth for African Americans…and it is still an issue today.

Fred Thompson Defending Sarah on Both Flanks…Left and Right!

That she would have folk attacking her from the left was a given. But what is especially grating to me is watching the attacks from the right. Fred isn’t having any of it. George Will can go suck an egg. What the hell has either George Will or David Brooks or Kathleen Parker done in their lives except to mouth off?  

One can hardly disagree with the desirability of our leaders having the qualities that Brooks describes (putting aside the question of how many of our leaders who are not Sarah Palin have demonstrated these qualities). But there are other important qualifications, such as will, courage, and determination. Frankly, an infusion of these qualities into our body politic is desperately needed – not just to raise hell with the establishment, but to speak the hard truth about unpleasant choices facing our country. To push for choices that will, in the long term, benefit our country, our children and our grandchildren. Wall Street and Washington were full of people who were “qualified and experienced” in the field of finance. Sen. Barack Obama, for one, has a great deal of experience in the housing field. So do many of his closest advisers. I would have traded some of that experience for a few more leaders with less experience and more courage to buck the establishment and tell the truth about what was happening.

This brings me back to Governor Sarah Palin, and why I say that courage and political will are at the very top of the “qualification” requirements for today’s leaders. So the question is, how does Sarah Palin compare on that score with Biden and Obama, for that matter? Very well, I’d say.

Couldn’t agree more that the Establishment Conservatives are just as threatened by Sarah as the Left. So it is no wonder that they would rather lose the election than support a dagger pointed right at the heart of the elite in Washington. Hey besides all the valid reasons to forget Obama, like his associations with unrepentant terrorists and black liberation crazy preachers, the plain fact that he cannot keep his cool speaks to his not being ready for anything more than being elected to dog catcher.

Using jaunty, humorous music, a picture of a younger McCain with shaggy hair and the hint of sideburns, and images of massive, antiquated cellphones and a Rubik’s Cube, the ad is the clearest evocation yet of McCain’s age. That strategy should work wonders with Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio since there are NO old folks there.

“He admits he still doesn’t know how to use a computer, can’t send e-mail. Still doesn’t understand the economy, and favors $200 billion in new tax cuts for corporations, but almost nothing for the middle class. . . . Ross has a terrific point but I do think he isn’t right about the McCain campaign as it stands now.

If Palin’s smart – if she’s the politician I hope she is, rather than an Alaskan Goodling with snazzy glasses – she’ll push back against this tendency, and try to use the next two months as an opportunity to define herself substantively as something more than a careful memorizer of the briefing books she’s handed. No doubt that the McCain campaign machine that put him in front of a puke green curtain to give a boring speech was inept. But haven’t most of those guys been moved around and aren’t they out of the way now? Since that shake up we have seen the McCain campaign reacting faster and with much more clever ads than the Obama campaign. The Celebrity Ad was terrific.

I think the McCain campaign will spot the over-briefing problem and back off. Let’s all remember that another great Republican who we know as the great communicator had the same problem. He figured it out. I suspect Sarah will too!

South Carolina Democrat Chairwoman…Does She Think South Carolina Voters Are Stupid or Simpletons?

First off I am with Andrew McCarthy. Republicans should not be asking for apologies for this sort of crap. We should be privately hoping that the Obama Campaign continues it’s rapid meltdown. We should follow the instructions of the great Corsican Napoleon Bonaparte: Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake 

I personally admire and respect the difficult choices that women make everyday, and I apologize to anyone who finds my comment offensive. I clumsily was making a point about people in South Carolina who may vote based on a single issue. Whether it’s the environment, the economy, the war or a woman’s right to choose, there are people who will cast their vote based on a single issue. That was the only point I was attempting to make. But we should also never forget to highlight his mistakes when they might get lost among all the other mistakes. Here the Chairwoman of the Democratic party in South Carolina seems to declare that the people of South Carolina are simpletons that will only use one criteria to make their selections and that’s why they love Sarah Palin. And love that standard politician apology…if you are offended I am sorry. Guess she learned that from another Fowler from South Carolina, Dan Fowler. Who had to issue a non-apology after he giggled about the timing of Hurricane Gustav hitting New Orleans which I covered in this post.

Make no mistake that the Elites on the Right are just as scared of Palin as Obama. The Cocktail Circuit is not going to be a happy place should this common woman make it into the White House. The idea that she might dismiss the Chefs, auction the Jets, and sell the silverware bothers those on the right perhaps even more than those on the left.

Character—not nearly as simplistic as your military friend made it out to me.  And as for Palin’s character, which he is so certain is so sterling, you might remind him that we have listened to her for a week now simply lie—there is no other word for it—that she fought tooth and nail the “bridge to nowhere.”  (there’s a great picture being circulated of her proudly holding a picture of t shirt inscribed “Nowhere, Alaska” at the time she was advocating the bridge).David Frum’s Diary on National Review Online

How absurd is Frum…this absurd. After listing all the attributes that Sarah displays in spades he comes up with a few that apparently only arise once one has traveled the cocktail circuit in DC, thereby barring any of those of us who pay taxes from ever joining the fun. Frum likes the little closed society they have created. How dare the Hoi polloi believe the founders of this country when they declared it was OUR place to lead this country.

But a good executive needs a solid floor of background knowledge so that he / she can sift sense from nonsense in policy proposals. A good executive must be willing to listen to a wide range of views, including some that are not immediately acceptable. A good executive must have a sense of timing: avoiding the equal evils of haste and procrastination. A good executive must have the power to explain and defend his / her actions to a wide variety of audiences, from the largest to the most specialized.

I guess Sarah or one of us needs to be able to act like those “good executives” have acted in the last 50 years in all the Branches of our Government. Nother words run the debt up, security down, military into the ground, illegal immigration through the roof, green wackos into every nook and cranny of our society, and then when they are done running they can sit and watch while Radical Islam kills and kills and kills then all the “executives” can throw up their arms and act surprised when those same lunatics drop 3 buildings in NYC, attack the Military Headquarters in DC and almost attack the Capital Building, which was ONLY saved by us commoners,…this surprise comes after we have spent literally trillions of dollars so that so-called intelligence “executives” could defend against that sort of thing happening.

Color me unconvinced that David Frum can distinguish his ass from a hole in the ground much less understand what it takes to be an successful executive.
